Sandra Moffatt

Discovering the wonders of Photoshop at the early age of 13, editing and creating digital art pieces instantly became her artistic passion, along with painting and drawing.  She studied film photography in high school and continued these passions, though the Commercial arts and training college at night while working full time as a Graphic designer. As opportunities continued to open, Sandra ended up pursuing a 12 year long career in Graphic design and marketing.  But her passion for photography never wavered, taking photos every chance she got.  Eventually, in 2008 Sandra took the leap of finally pursuing a career in photography by opening her own photography business,  adequately named “Moffatt Photography”  Then in 2011 Sandra decided to focus her efforts by opening a fully equipped studio and becoming a newborn photography specialist, ultimately leading to her photographing over 200 beautiful bundles of joy every year and winning several photography awards for her work with babies.

Sandra is a known expert in handling and working with newborns and her unique creative style lead to her gaining followers from around the world. But it wasn’t until she had to employ the services of an inexperienced newborn photography assistant in 2014 that she realised how unsafe the newborn photography learning process really is. Horrified at the thought of her new assistants practicing on precious babies, she instantly set to work on changing industry practices.

Brendon Moffatt

Brendon’s passion for teaching began as a Driver Trainer in the year 2000 and within just 5 years he had established a rapidly growing driving school of his own. Whilst maintaining this successful school in 2004 Brendon also began a 5 year period teaching advanced driving classes at the Queensland’s closed facility, Mount Cotton Training Centre. In 2012, due to Sandra’s successful photography studio and Brendon’s want for a change, over the next 12 months he made the transition to join the ever expanding Moffatt Photography team. Whilst enjoying managing the multi award winning studio and photographing weddings from time to time it was his previous 12 year background in training and assessing and Sandra’s love for newborn photography that fused to bring StandInBaby® to life.   From the moment he entered the newborn photography industry he was surprised by the lack of safe training options available when learning the art form. Expanding the business and training new staff safely was an impossible task. After Sandra’s many years of searching for a training aid and watching industry leaders screaming out for a solution, it was time to rectify a growing problem before someone is hurt. It was at this point the concept of StandInBaby was born.

Chris Lamb

Senior Engineer

We engaged the team from Shape Labs in Brisbane, Australia with the harder than expected task to recreate a low fidelity mannequin that simulates a sleep like limp feel that will not hold a pose. With Chis Lamb's background in component design and stress analysis for gas turbine engines and advanced aerospace manufacturing and Dan Freund's exposure to a broad range of industries, from the design of heavy fabrication for mining, specialist medical instruments and mass produced consumer goods they created StandInBaby® advanced articulation. This unique ball joint design was developed by overlaying StandInBaby with real newborn baby X-rays. Featured in several locations in StandInBaby® design, the unique concept allows joints to move in a relaxed (sleep like) fashion yet stop the movement when required to mirror a newborn babies limitations. An amazing achievement that other teams said couldn't be done.
