Accurate weight distribution
Articulation aside, the StandInBaby is also realistically weighted at 3.1kg, which represents the 50th percentile for newborn babies (normal birth weight is 2.5 to 4kg). This is important, as it allows health professionals who may be inexperienced with babies to become acclimatized to the normal weight of a baby and carry them comfortably when the situation demands it.
The only solution to simulation of newborn handling & joint manipulation
StandInBaby (SIB) is the world’s first and only newborn training aid with engineered joints that mirror range of movement of a real newborn baby. Using newborn x-rays to overlay the foundation of the joints, .
Caring for your StandInBaby
Joint Maintenance: To allow your StandInBaby’s joint to move freely, a clear lubricant has been applied to all joints from factory. We recommend owners apply a very small amount of lubricant as required to reduce friction in tight joints.
Cleaning: We recommend that you use a clean dampened, soft cloth to wipe your StandInBaby and gently rub the cloth to remove any dirt or grime. DO NOT use chemicals, bleach or detergents on StandInBaby
Note: A full set of Care Instructions is included with your StandInBaby

"The StandInBaby is an excellent teaching and simulation tool which catalyses the knowledge and skills acquisition for medical personnel.
Because babies are moving targets, and are often in distress – the posing of the baby requires careful attention and meticulous application of the correct amount of force to ensure that the target (vein, lumbar space, or urethra) is well-defined and devoid of movement. Junior Doctors and Nurses are now presented with the option of posing the StandInBaby to practice and simulate these procedures.
Paediatric nurses and doctors can also practice various poses and capture appropriate posturing with the mannikin that has real-life applications in hospitals."

Simulation in healthcare has been embraced by our Hospital and Education Societies. We know that when healthcare professionals are exposed to a mannequin based simulation training, improved outcomes are expected compared to those who are not exposed. Many research studies have been performed and conclude overwhelming support for use of mannequin-based simulation training.

StandInBaby is the first and only mannequin with engineered joints to replicate the movement of a real baby. Users of SIB are forced to support the head and pelvis which tends to bring out the nurturing instinct. Unlike any other mannequin, users of SIB instinctually begin to rock and stroke the baby meaning that, the movements are so lifelike it is easy to apply StandInBaby to many existing simulation scenarios and create many more which have until now not had the ability to create due lack of resources to simulate any realistic positioning.

“Having health professionals, photographers, young parents and others using a StandInBaby™ in training would be fantastic and realistically save some infants from unnecessary trauma to the neck and brachial plexus. The life-like head and limb joints of the SIB make it unique and are just weighted perfectly – especially as infants don’t have head control until around 4 months. The StandInBaby™ reflects this perfectly.” I would wholeheartedly recommend SIB as a teaching tool and also to have in clinics where handling of infants and exercises for infants (and young parents) may be demonstrated.
